Position: Director, Workforce Development & Public Visibility

The Director, Workforce Development & Public Visibility will report to the Executive Vice President and work with the Senior Vice President of Communications to develop and carry out a strategy to drive messaging around the essentiality of engineering, particularly leading efforts around the Engineering and Infrastructure Roadshow. Particular emphasis will be placed on growing the engineering workforce. In this capacity, the Director would play a lead role in developing and carrying out a multiorganization workforce summit and managing a newly formed Workforce Committee, as well as supporting related advocacy efforts to advance the American Council of Engineering Companies workforce agenda.
Responsibilities
- Drive the American Council of Engineering Companies engagement with the White House and key federal agencies related to Roadshow and workforce activities, serving as project manager for events:
- Serve as point person for outside consultant tasked with logistics for Roadshow events;
- Coordinate with Communications team on media engagement for Roadshow events and message development;
- Create and maintain timeline for decisions and contracts, such as ordering collateral.
- Manage coordination with the American Society of Civil Engineers and American Public Works Association on Roadshow planning and programming.
- Serve as project manager for the Workforce Summit, including coordinating with Advocacy staff, speakers and outside stakeholders to develop prep materials and surveys that will shape an event agenda and action items.
- Building from Roadshow and Workforce Summit messaging, coordinate with Advocacy staff on messaging, coalition partnerships, and other tasks as needed to support and advance the American Council of Engineering Companies workforce agenda.
- Identify and maintain list of workforce partnerships – develop new relationships.
- Coordinate with the Senior Vice President of Business Resources on the engineering portion of Careers Building Communities website.
- Build bipartisan relationships through lobbying and political engagement to support the American Council of Engineering Companies workforce policy goals; work with the Vice President of Political Affairs and the Political Action Committee Director to ensure that the American Council of Engineering Companies political program is aligned effectively with workforce advocacy goals.
- Coordinate with Advocacy staff to engage the American Council of Engineering Companies Member Organization's executive directors on Roadshow and workforce activities, including the development of materials and messaging that can be used at the Member Organization level.
- Coordinate with Advocacy staff and the American Council of Engineering Companies Member Organization's executive directors to develop training programs and tools that can be used with Congress and in state legislatures on the essentiality of the engineering industry.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Candidates should have Executive Branch or congressional experience, both in policy as well as campaigns and media strategy; White house experience preferred.
- Candidates should have experience managing large strategic projects, managing timelines, budgets, and outcomes, as well as experience in working with outside consultants.
- Ideal candidate will be collaborative, driven, 'campaign' oriented, and savvy about communications and advocacy strategies.
